Daternek volt pár jó mondata most, ami szerintem jól összefoglalja a csapat jelenlegi hozzáállását:

Opponents haven't respected the Avs for a long time. They have been considered a soft team. "Easy to play against," I've heard more than once from opposing players, scouts and management people in recent years. Too many teams were able to easily establish their will on the Avs, and too often it seemed like the Avs weren't even all that upset about it.

But it all changed on opening night when Anaheim's Corey Perry — sitting casually on the dasher, talking some trash toward the Avalanche bench and later squirting a water bottle at it not long after the Ducks started getting chippy in a blowout loss — saw Roy get right back in his face. Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau must have thought he could then get in Roy's face and get away with it, but when the glass separating the benches nearly collapsed on him from Roy's shove, the startled look on his face made it clear he thought wrong. Some in the hockey world took Roy to task for the emotional outburst, but Avs players loved it. It took only one game, but the Avs already got their galvanizing moment from Roy with that push of the glass. The message to players came through loud and clear: We're not going to get pushed around anymore. Several players have told me Roy's push made them realize he really is in this thing with them, when maybe they weren't so sure before. When somebody stands up against the bully in hockey, it can really bring a team together.
